Purpose: Expanding the Light of Others by providing them with Assistance
In our Communities, there are some many great people accomplishing so many great feats of Tikun Olam of Sharing Their Light. How much greater the impact, how much brighter the Light of these efforts, if others could be shown these avenues of giving, and Share Their Light.
The purpose herein is two-fold, and as per the Chinese Proverb: "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, Teach a man to fish and he and others eat indefinitely". (Man here is in the generic, as in Adam: Both Male and Female did HE create them)
The initial purpose is to join-in the acts of Tikun Olam of others. Not to take away from it, and not to change it in any way; but to simply contribute to its success. To strengthen its impact and yes, even to replicate its impact in other communities.
An example here may best illustrate this purpose: A Community Member holds an annual blanket drive for a local family shelter and typically receives between 50-100 blankets for distribution.
This Community Member notifies the Share Our Light Foundation, prior to its next blanket drive with its requests and contact information.
This information is subsequently shared with all of the Community Members of the Share Our Light Foundation.
Community Members wishing to respond may do so in one of two manners (or other): 1. They may send blankets or a monetary donation to the blanket drive (increasing the distribution potential) and/or 2. They may initiate a blanket drive of their own, in their own community, which others can then actively respond to.
At this level we have proverbially given man a fish so that he may be satiated today. This is quite an endevour, and one that if expanded upon will have broad and ever-enlightening consequences.
The secondary purpose, and secondary only in sequence; is the analysis of these endeavors in such a fashion that they can be coordinated and/or supplemented to be self-generating, and eventually obsolete.
Opportunities to Expand Light: Project Home Again
Project Home Again provides people in need with donated household goods free of charge. We work with social workers and other referring agencies in Massachusetts's Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire to ensure that your gently used items go to those who need them the most. How you can Share If you are local and would like to share in this opportunity through a contribution, donation or volunteer work, then please contact the Community Member directly at: [email protected]
If you would like to open a similar opportunity in your community, then please contact the Foundation directly at: [email protected] for an informational packet and step by step assistance.
