Those who dwell within The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, build their foundations upon a knowledge of the Sciences-as their certainty. A steadfast component of their foundation is a belief of certainty in the foundation of knowledge which they have established at any given time.
Those of us who strive to dwell within the guidelines of the precepts of The Tree of Lifeunderstand that our foundation of knowledge is built upon a component outside of ourselves, and that this greater entity known as the Creator is the Source of All, including that of the sciences.
That which distinguishes the two can simply be identified as Freedom, with Responsbility1.
Disciples of The Tree of Life free themselves from the constraints of their physical selves, through the acknowledgement of something greater; and in this sense, that which is outside of themselves, yet constrained by Responsibility, is not harmful, but only potentially different, and again, potentially conducive to their greater understanding.
Disciples of The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, bind themselves to their physical entities, because it is their physical environment which they can see and therefore comprehend.
Because of this limiting comprehension, this lack of freedom of intellect; the knowledge of their foundation is limited. In order to strengthen their foundational position, these disciples of The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil utilize three guises.
These guises are defensive and offensive mechanisms, geared to thwart Freedom of intellect, as we shall see in further detail as pursuant to each of the three guises.
Understanding their fundamental characteristics will help us identify them within the situations around us. Conjunctly, an understanding of their personifications will provide us with appropriate “counter-measures”. These initially are designed to thwart their attempts at dislodging our resolve, but additionally, they will reverse the negative affect of their inclination to one with a positive result.
Least we forget, a liability or negative action is an unrecognized asset or opportunity for positive impact2. Let us then examine the guises of these Three Poisons.
1 Freedom with Responsibility: Exodus XXX “Let My people go that they may serve Me” 2 Rosh Hashanah teaches us that Honey (a sweet asset) is derived from a non-kosher animal which stings (a liability). To show us that though we may be faced with a negative, we can turn it around to be of positive value.
